Settled In...In roma

This is our 7^th trip to Rome. But, each time I come I feel that I am on the verge of a big adventure. This time we have the opportunity to stay for 2 months. Maybe I will finally begin to learn to speak Italiano. With a basic knowledge of Spanish and the ability to read a map; plus the patience of so many Italians who “parlano Inglese”, all our previous trips have been sheer joy. I look forward to the little apartment with 66 steps and a views of the Capitoline and Palatine Hills; the friends who value our presence; and, the opportunity to live (if only for a short time) in this beautiful and historic city.

Our first week was settling in. We adapted to the rhythm of the city. We don’t miss our car. Rather we enjoy the Metro and buses. We walk rather than ride. And, though our legs are tried each night, our energy level is gradually improving. It is “una semplice vita.”
